Getting Our Hands Dirty for Climate Action

Schweigen spends an incredible morning out on Boonwurrung Country. Together with Greenfleet and fellow sponsors, we planted some 2,800 native seedlings at the Strzelecki Nature Link to help restore local forests, fight climate change, and build a connected corridor for koalas, gliders, and native wildlife.

The morning kicked off with a walk to the site, where our Greenfleet guides showed us how previous planting efforts have completely transformed the area over the years.

Before we picked up our tools, Willie Pepper from the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council welcomed us with a moving traditional smoking ceremony. It was a beautiful way to ground the day, cleanse the group and help us truly connect with the land we were about to work on.

Greenfleet reforestation experts explained the mission for the day, conducted a tools demo and safety briefing before we got straight into it.

Spreading across the hillside, we planted a mix of native species that will eventually grow into a thriving multi-layer canopy. This particular stretch of land is legally covenanted for 100 years, meaning the trees we planted will be safely protected for a century - giving koalas, gliders, and native birds a permanent place to call home.

Greenfleet has been doing this vital work for nearly 30 years, restoring over 11,700 hectares of biodiverse forest across Australia. Seeing their impact firsthand gave our team a huge sense of hope.
