About Schweigen – Rangehoods and Canopies

At Schweigen, we produce Australia's most efficient silent exhaust systems.

Our challenge was simple: find a better way to deliver full suction while eliminating almost all the sound.

Did we succeed? Well, it's no coincidence that 'Schweigen' is the German word for 'silent'.

Question: Why are Schweigen ducted exhaust systems so quiet?
Answer: The noisiest part of the unit (the motor) is located outside the house.

It starts with the motor. We selected the quietest and most powerful domestic extraction motor and fan available. A German design, it is without peer in terms of its power, reliability and low noise level.

Then, we designed a range of sleek and smooth Range hoods without all the normal internal nooks and crannies. Lastly, we added something quite revolutionary.

The most crucial factor in Range hood design is the placement of the motor. Placing the motor and fan inside a suspended Range hood just doesn't make sense.

After all, the more powerful the motor, the more noise it is going to generate.

So, here's what we decided to do...

• We put the motor outside the home
• We added an acoustic ducting system to minimise noise levels
• We added commercial grade filters (normally found in restaurants) to eliminate all odours.
